Chosen topic of exploration: Art Noveau.
Having had an intrest in this topic for a while I chose to seize this opportunity and take a closer look at the art and its relation to our culture today.
I therefore began by taking images of architecture in leeds which I felt replicated the romantic and decorative style associated with the movement.
Being in the city centre, it made sense for me to look at the more materialistic forms of this movement and so I explored the shops and boutiques for examples of fashions which were influenced by this. Unfortunately the shops displaying examples of these finds wouldnt permit me to take pictures so I was forced to locate images elsewhere.
The designs from the BCBG MAXAZARIA fall 09 collection capture the 2D elegance from art noveau movement beautifully, and the fine silks used to create the garments further emphasise that free-flowing and romantic theme.
