Fashion, Art and Culture part II.
Chosen topic of exploration: The 60's

For my research into this fashion era I chose to focus my research on the transition of the iconic sixties style to the present day.
As I began to explore the various styles of the day I began to notice a running theme in that there was a lot of cuved features being contrasted with either structured repeats or linear shapes.

This theme also occurs in architecture from the era, a good example is this car park in Gateshead. The repeated linear qualities contrast the the subtle curved slopes between floors.

From this I began focusing on the actual patterns and prints used for garments, furniture and decor and found it interesting to see how that even with technological advances the patterns of today seem much more 'lazy' and abstract in comparison the the very rigid and graphic patterns of the 60's.
